Phoenix - Obsolescence Notice

Please acknowledge this notification that due to the age of the Phoenix and same platform microwave furnaces, parts are now no longer available. As a result, we can no longer guarantee the high level of service you have come to expect from us.


Service support options on this instrument will no longer be available as of 31/03/2024. 


If you already have a service contract in place valid beyond the 31/03/2024 this will be honoured until its expiry date but will not be renewable.


If this instrument is vital to your operations we recommend that alterative instrumentation options are sourced.


The Phoenix microwave furnace system has been through a complete redesign since you purchased your unit, and we are proud to introduce you to the Phoenix Black as the new standard in rapid ashing.  The Phoenix Black now offers reduced ashing times, with quicker heating and an all new control interface.


To assist with this transition, CEM are able to offer trade in deals for all UK based customers who purchase a new Phoenix Black before 30th June 2024. Please contact your local sales representative for further information.


The Phoenix Black provides the following improvements over the original Phoenix systems:


·       Faster heating – ramp to 800C in only 20 mins. Max temp 1200C

·       IQ/OQ/PQ service available for turnkey validation and audit traceability

·       Now upgradable to allow automated sulphated ashing or nitrogen purging of samples

·       Operate as a workstation to meet CFR 11 Part 21, ISO and other QC requirements 

·       Meets Industry Requirements for Muffle Furnaces – ASTM, ISO, DIN, USP methods


It is important to note that the Phoenix Black can run any application that is used within the original version of Pheonix  and CEM will assist with the transfer of applications from one instrument to another.

Smart-5 Limited Support Notice

Please acknowledge this notification that due to the age of your Smart-5 moisture/solids analyser, parts are now becoming harder to acquire and will thus have limited support and slower response times within the next 6 months. As a result, we can no longer guarantee the high level of service you have come to expect from us. 


Standard service support options on this instrument will no longer be available as of 30/08/2023. 


After this date CEM will continue to provide support but this will only be available on a case by case basis. If you already have a service contract in place valid beyond the 30/08/2023 this will be honoured until its expiry date but will not be renewable.


If this instrument is vital to your operations we recommend that alterative instrumentation options are sourced. 


The Smart moisture/solids analysis system has been through a further iteration since you purchased your unit, with the Smart-6. 


To assist with this transition, CEM have extended the trade in deals for all UK based customers who purchase a new Smart-6 before 28th February 2024. Please contact your local sales representative for further information.


The Smart-6 provides the following improvements over the Smart-5.


Dual Frequency Power            - Allows moisture analysis of both liquids and powders

Faster Analysis                         - Microwave and IR heating provides improved drying and result accuracy

Improved User Interface        - Touch screen interface 

Compliance                                - CFR 21 Part 11 compliant. User access and data control.

LIMS Compatible                      - Integrate data into your LIMS through USB or network connections.

Smaller Footprint                     - Using the same familiar user layout but now almost half the size.


It is important to note that the Smart-6 can run any application that is used within the Smart-5 and CEM will assist with the transfer of applications from one instrument to another.

If you already have a service contract in place valid beyond the 21/04/2023 this will be honoured until its expiry date but will not be renewable.


If this instrument is vital to your operations we recommend that alterative instrumentation options are sourced. 


The SmartTrac II fat analysis systems have been through a complete redesign since you purchased your unit, and we are proud to introduce you to the ORACLE as the new standard in rapid fat analysis. The ORACLE is the first ever rapid fat analyser requiring zero method development or any prior knowledge of the sample matrix or composition; and at the touch of a button can analyse fat in any food sample with reference chemistry accuracy


To assist with this transition, CEM are able to offer trade in deals for all UK based customers who purchase a new ORACLE before 30th September 2022. Please contact your local sales representative for further information.


The ORACLE provides the following improvements over the SmartTrac II systems:


·       Zero method development

·       No prior knowledge of sample matrix or composition

·       Direct isolation and measurement of hydrogen protons on fat molecules

·       Oracle can also be paired with an automated robot for unattended analysis of 100 samples per run


It is important to note that the ORACLE can run any application that is used within the SmatTrac II and CEM will assist with the transfer of applications from one instrument to another.
